Before and After - the Before Part

Last week, our kitchen looked like this.

Our dining room table could not be found.

Our living room was fit for pigs.  Or packrats.  Take your pick.

And I was glueing sequins.

Then we drew the proverbial line in the sand and said enough is enough.  It's December already and by golly, it's time to decorate.  Um, well, ok.  We really didn't say, "by golly."

But anywhoooo...

We loaded ourselves in the Jeep and drove up to the nearby mountain town intent on searching for the Christmas tree to chop down and bring home.  The only problem was that the folks in charge weren't out being in charge.  That is, they weren't selling "tree-choppin'" permits yet.  So we came home empty-handed.

We did actually scout out a tree with the intention of returning the following weekend to bring it home, but I guess our initiave fizzled and we opted for one of the fine trees from the forests of the Home Depot Home Garden section.

But not before getting some really cute "king of the rock" pictures.  Yep, he likes to yell.  See...

Then we set about setting up.

This was Alejandro taking a picture of my butt...

while I put lights on the kitchen side of the tree.

Then - actually we continued our home-transformation the following morning - we embarked on the quest of putting lights up outside. We've never done this before, so we were very excited.

Danny hung out in the Ergo carrier, and I wore the over-sized parka around both of us.  We were all in our pajamas.  See...

Even Alejandro was.

After Danny got tired of that, he hung out in his stroller and read

the phone book.

Meanwhile, Alejandro climbed up onto the roof and did a little decorating up high.

And then, our house looked like...

...You're gonna have to come back later to see!  (I know, I'm so mean.)  Come back later today sometime and see the finished product.  Meanwhile, I'm going to climb into bed and saw some logs.

G'night!
